Race Report

We didn't see the SW that was promised - to assist the climb - but there were PBs nevertheless; and of course, lots of riders tackling the hill for the first time.

Matt Connan, second off the start line, was the first to fly through the finish. Brother Lachlan wasn't too far behind though and 0.5sec faster. In between, young Emily Mascaro had set the time to beat for the girls and this was done two minutes later by Michelle McLintock who was later displaced by fastest for the morning, Corrie Fillmore. Corrie had a bit of a wait to have her time confirmed as fastest but held out as Erin Nolan finished eleven minutes later, just 1.6sec slower.

In the meantime Jonathon Sammut had established the blokes' benchmark that held for thirty-four minutes but was then reduced in turn by Jayden Waters, Tom Ford and lastly, Jono Lewis.

Congratulations - not only to the placegetters today but to everyone who pushed themselves up the hill; and it was very gratifying to get almost to the end of the start list before seeing any unexpected gaps.

Jeff Usher was our starter today with Ali Dyson doing a superb job getting riders through the roundabout just past the start to begin their climb up to the top where Shannon Arnott backed up the timekeeper; Jo Blacker managed the rego desk again most efficiently while Troy, having set up the course and raced up the hill himself, pedalled back down to present medals to category winners. It would be nice to give medals to everyone.
